Saudi King Abdullah to seek medical treatment in US

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia plans to travel Monday to the United States for medical treatment, according to well- informed sources in Riyadh.

The 86-year-old monarch has been suffering back problems. After receiving visitors in recent weeks, his doctors on Friday ordered renewed bed rest.

His half brother, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, is due to arrive in Riyadh before Abdullah's departure. Sultan has himself been undergoing cancer treatment for years, and spends much of his time living in Morocco. DPA
