China’s VP: A Prosperous China Poses No Threat

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping says a prosperous and stable China poses no threat to any country.

Xi made the statement in Singapore Monday while addressing 400 business representatives from the two countries.

In a meeting earlier Monday with Singapore President Sellapan Ramanthan, Xi said China is committed to a policy of neighborliness, friendship and partnership with Asian countries.

The Chinese vice president and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong witnessed the signing of agreements on collaboration in research and education.

Singapore is the first leg of Xi’s four-nation tour, which will also take him to Angola, South Africa and Botswana.

China and Singapore are marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
