A Nigerian opposition party has accused its political rivals of sabotage after a plane carrying a politician made a crash landing on a runway filled with animals.
The Action Congress of Nigeria says a plane carrying its vice presidential candidate, Fola Adeola, crashed Tuesday because the runway had been taken over by rams and goats.
The party says it suspects sabotage was involved and is calling for an investigation.
It says the candidate was not harmed, but the plane sustained damage.
The party says another plane carrying its presidential candidate, Nuhu Ribadu, had to remain in the air for over an hour before the runway in the northern city of Bauchi was cleared.
The two candidates were in Bauchi for an election rally.
Nigeria holds elections in April. Past polls have been marred by fraud.
