The leader of one of Mexico's most dangerous drug cartels is believed to be dead, Mexican authorities said Friday, killed during a siege this week that also brought new levels of chaos to Mexico's troubled state of Michoacán.
Nazario "El Chayo" Moreno, one of the purported founders of "La Familia" drug cartel, was thought to have died during a battle this week with security forces, said Alejandro Poiré, the Mexican spokesman on security matters.
